Two (2) men are dead following a shooting incident in Port-of-Spain last night (Friday 19th April, 2024). The deceased have been identified as 23-year-old Lettrelle Daniel of Trou Macaque Road, Laventille, and 32-year-old Jamal Etienne of Upper St. Barbs Road, Laventille.
According to reports, both men were seated in a white Nissan B15 which was parked on the Eastern side of Picadilly Street, Port-of-Spain, in the vicinity of Green Zone Sports Bar, when they were approached by two (2) masked men, around 10:42 PM. The suspects opened fire on the victims. The white Nissan B15 then drove off onto Duke Street to escape the gunmen. However, upon reaching Henry Street, their vehicle collided with a black Toyota Altis.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and a team of Officers responded to the scene, including Sgt. Garcia, PC Taylor and PC Rosado.
The two (2) injured men were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (POSGH), where they were both pronounced dead on arrival. Investigations are continuing. More on this as it becomes available. [Source: Loop]

A man is currently hospitalized after he was stabbed by a woman in Tobago on Wednesday night (17th April, 2024). The victim is said to be a 32-year-old lifeguard. The woman was arrested following the incident.
According to reports, the man and a 24-year-old woman were at a home along Belle Aire Road, Charlotteville, Tobago, when they got into an argument, around 11:00 PM on Wednesday night. The confrontation soon turned physical, during which the woman armed herself with a knife and stabbed the man on both sides of his neck. Upon hearing the loud commotion, residents notified the Police and Emergency Health Services and the victim was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital for medical treatment, before being transferred to Trinidad to undergo emergency surgery. The woman was arrested by Officers of the Charlotteville Police Station. Investigations are continuing, led by WPC Cox. More on this as it becomes available. [Source: Ian Alleyne] A teenager has appeared before the Juvenile Court in Fyzabad, charged with the murder of Tyrell Karim, which occurred on 6th April, 2024. The minor was also charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, when he appeared before Justice Jack on Thursday (18th April, 2024).
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Karim, aka ‘Koke,’ 44, of Morne Diablo, was shot and killed along the roadway at Lammy Trace, on 6th April, 2024. A male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter by Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region III, with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies on 12th April, 2024. Investigations were supervised by Supt. Dhilpaul, ASP Persad, Insp. Maharaj and Sgt. Bridgemohan, all of HBI Region III. The teenager was charged with the offences by PC Mathura, also of HBI Region III, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard SC, on Wednesday (17th April, 2024).
A man is dead and another wounded following a brazen daylight shooting incident at Mariquite Street in Port-of-Spain this afternoon (Friday 19th April, 2024). The deceased has only been identified as ‘Midget.’
According to reports, a group of men was liming at Mariquite Street and Upper Duke Street, shortly after 12:00 PM, when gunmen suddenly appeared and opened fire on them. The suspects then ran to a waiting burgundy-coloured car and fled the scene. Scores of persons in the vicinity scampered for safety when the gunshots started. The injured men were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital for medical treatment by a resident, whose vehicle bore gunshot holes from the shooting. One of the men, however, succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the shooting was gang-related.

[Source: Newsday] A 38-year-old woman, who pleaded not guilty on Tuesday (16th April, 2024) to five (5) counts of fraudulent use of a bank card and two (2) counts of larceny of $2,500, against a 66-year-old pensioner, was granted $65,000 bail with a surety.
Crystal Vikki, of Nurse Street, Guayaguayare, Mayaro, pleaded not guilty when she appeared virtually before Master Shabaana Shah and the matter was transferred to the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court. Vikki was ordered not to communicate with the man and to report to her local Police Station twice per week until her next appearance on 16th May, 2024. The accused was arrested on 14th April, 2024 and charged with the offences on 15th April, 2024 by Cpl. Joseph, of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID). According to a Police report on 5th October, 2023, the man told Police that he observed discrepancies in his bank account at a commercial bank. Mayaro CID launched further investigations into the details of the report and executed warrants at two (2) commercial banks in Port-of-Spain, where they obtained certain pivotal information. The CID team subsequently received further investigative support from the Fraud Squad East Office, which resulted in the charges against the woman. A man is dead following a shooting incident in Santa Cruz last night (Wednesday 17th April, 2024). The deceased has been identified as Raheem Cruickshank of Cantaro Village, Santa Cruz.
According to reports, a wagon pulled alongside a group of persons at Bass Street, around 7:45 PM. Three (3) men with guns alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on the group, hitting Cruickshank. The gunmen got back into the car, which sped off. Cruickshank died at the scene. There were no reports of other injuries. Officers of the North-Eastern Division and Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region II visited the scene and gathered evidence. Police said Cruickshank was a relative of murder-accused Jody Cruickshank, 42, also of Santa Cruz. Investigations are continuing. More on this as it becomes available. [Source: Newsday] A fugitive wanted by United States authorities for serious offenses, was captured yesterday (Wednesday 17th April, 2024) during a joint intelligence-led operation. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the suspect was arrested pursuant to outstanding warrants for the offences of attempted murder in the second degree, attempted assault in the first degree and possession of a weapon in the second degree, committed within the jurisdiction of the United States of America.
The TTPS initiated the pursuit of the suspect following intelligence received from an international source in March 2024. The intelligence suggested that the suspect was in Trinidad, after he fled the United States to evade law enforcement investigations. The suspect, who allegedly returned to Trinidad in December 2022, had reportedly taken measures to conceal his whereabouts, including relocating to an undisclosed address within the Laventille area. While undertaking diligent surveillance efforts, the TTPS said Officers observed the wanted man walking along Despers Crescent on Wednesday (17th April, 2024). Subsequently, an intelligence unit of the TTPS along with Officers of the Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB), swiftly co-ordinated an operation leading to his apprehension. The Officers executed the extradition warrant and the suspect was taken into custody and conveyed to the Woodbrook Police Station, where he remains detained, pending further legal proceedings. The TTPS said it “remains committed to collaborating with international law enforcement agencies to ensure that fugitives are brought to justice, regardless of their location.” A family has been left traumatized after bandits stormed their home in Maraval early this morning (Wednesday 17th April, 2024).
According to reports, four (4) gunmen dressed in Police operational wear, gained entry into the family’s home, located along Saddle Road, around 3:00 AM. The bandits proceeded to rob the family of a safe, a quantity of cash and other items, including a loaded licenced firearm. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), 29-year-old Karinme Gardner, aka ‘Coco,’ of Enterprise, Chaguanas, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master De Silva in the High Court on Monday (15th April, 2024). The Sufficiency Hearing is set for 30th October, 2024. Lewis, also of Enterprise, Chaguanas, was shot along the roadway at Bhagaloo Street, on 31st March, 2024. He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he later died. A male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter by Officers of the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department (CID), on 9th April, 2024. Investigations were supervised by Supt. Dhilpaul, ASP Persad, Insp. Maharaj and Sgt. Bridgemohan, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region III. Gardner was charged by WPC Rampersad, also of HBI Region III, on Friday 12th April, 2024, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal, on that same date.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), at approximately 1:13 PM on Sunday (14th April, 2024), the Barrackpore East Secondary School received an alarming email via its official address, notifying the Principal of an intended threat, targeting students entering the school compound on Monday (15th April, 2024) and Tuesday (16th April, 2024). The threat specifically mentioned the intention to shoot students.
In a Media Release this morning (Wednesday 17th April, 2024), the TTPS said the school “immediately contacted the Barrackpore Police Station and a report was made. The Officers of the Southern Division promptly forwarded a copy of the threatening email to our Cybercrime Unit for further investigation.”
Police contacted the MTS office, who indicated that they were aware of the situation and had already increased security measures at the school. The Barrackpore Police, together with the Southern Division Task Force, provided heightened security on Monday (15th April, 2024) and Tuesday (16th April, 2024) and will “maintain a vigilant presence to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff. Additional patrols have been deployed in the vicinity of the school, and these efforts will continue as necessary.”
Senior Superintendent of the Southern Division, Brian Soodeen, assured the Principal and staff that activities at the school will continue in a safe environment. Meanwhile, Officers of the Cyber and Social Media Unit are continuing investigations into the origin of the email, and the TTPS notes that “every effort is being made to identify and apprehend those responsible.” The TTPS said it “condemns these reprehensible acts in the strongest possible terms, as threats against educational institutions, especially those aimed at innocent students, are abhorrent and will not be tolerated.” The Media Release concluded by saying, “We urge anyone with information about this incident or any suspicious activity to come forward and assist law enforcement authorities in their efforts to ensure justice is served.” |
