A man is dead and another wounded following a brazen daylight shooting incident at Mariquite Street in Port-of-Spain this afternoon (Friday 19th April, 2024). The deceased has only been identified as ‘Midget.’
According to reports, a group of men was liming at Mariquite Street and Upper Duke Street, shortly after 12:00 PM, when gunmen suddenly appeared and opened fire on them. The suspects then ran to a waiting burgundy-coloured car and fled the scene. Scores of persons in the vicinity scampered for safety when the gunshots started. The injured men were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital for medical treatment by a resident, whose vehicle bore gunshot holes from the shooting. One of the men, however, succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the shooting was gang-related.
