The Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) is advising citizens that regular mail delivery, other than Social Welfare cheques, will be suspended between 31st March to 15th April 2020 in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. Post Offices will also be closed during this time, except for those that are used for the delivery of pension cheques - and those will only remain open until 3rd April 2020.
TTPost notes that Courier Services, including the delivery of CDAP medication will continue as usual. Inbound mail and parcels will also continue to be cleared from the Airport and secured on a daily basis. See the Public Notice below from TTPost for further information.

The Ministry of Health has announced on Tuesday afternoon (31st March 2020) that Trinidad and Tobago now has a total of 87 positive cases of COVID-19, adding two (2) more since this morning’s update. So far there have been three (3) deaths and one (1) person has been discharged. The last couple of cases appear to have been a result of “local spread” and if this trend continues, T&T will be faced with the next level which is the dangerous “community spread.” According to the Ministry, the two (2) new cases are from persons who had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) has tested a total of 558 samples to date. The Ministry notes that of the 87 positive cases, 49 of these came from the group of T&T Nationals who recently returned from a cruise. T&T is currently locked down for all non-essential businesses until 15th April 2020 in an attempt to slow the rapidly growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country. The Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, announced at a virtual Press Conference this morning (Tuesday 31st March 2020) that Regulations will be amended to reduce gatherings from 10 persons to 5 persons in public spaces. The ban on public gatherings will be in effect until 20th April 2020.
Minister Young noted that the ban does not include persons gathered at groceries, pharmacies or banks.

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) is advising that the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (PATT) and Point Lisas Port Development Corporation (PLIPDECO) will waive certain port charges as it relates to storage of goods at the Port-of-Spain, Scarborough and Point Lisas Ports in order to ease the burden being faced by importers of goods into Trinidad and Tobago.
The Ministry is also appealing to all shipping companies and other affiliated companies involved in the shipping industry to follow suit, by waiving all demurrage and other associated charges relating to the carriage of goods by sea and air. The Communications Unit of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) announced on Monday 30th March 2020 that there is now a third confirmed case of COVID-19 in Tobago. The individual has since been isolated and is being closely monitored. The total positive cases in T&T is now 82 as of Monday 30th March 2020, with three (3) confirmed deaths. Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, has just announced at a virtual Press Conference that T&T now has a total of 82 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is four (4) more since last night. The Minister noted that 49 of these came from the group of T&T Nationals who recently returned from a cruise.
