UPDATE: Reports indicate that one of the men was released on Wednesday 30th January 2019, after a portion of the ransom was allegedly paid.
On Sunday 27th January 2019, six (6) T&T Fishermen, including a 16-year-old, left on a fishing trip - but never returned. Relatives of one of the men, Linton Manohar, later received a phone call from him stating that the men were all kidnapped by “Venezuelan Pirates.”
The Kidnappers demanded a ransom of US $200,000 be paid in full by Friday 1st February, with a down-payment due two (2) days before. Relatives were told that the hands and limbs of the men would be removed if the ransom was not paid on time.
Besides Linton Manohar, the other men are: 16-year-old Jandesh Jaikaran, Brandon Arjoon, brothers Jason and Jerry O'Brien and Ricky Rambarose - all from Morne Diablo.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, has finally sent a letter to the other driver involved in his Land Rover crash, which took place on 17th January 2019. 46-year-old Emma Fairweather received the letter six (6) days after the crash.
Emma suffered a broken wrist in the accident and several days later she publicly questioned why the Duke had not yet apologized for his role in the crash.
Emma was later surprised to receive a hand-delivered letter at her home in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, dated 21st January 2019 - four (4) days after the crash:
When I opened it I saw the Sandringham House headed paper and went ‘Oh my God!’

The PNM Government of Trinidad & Tobago earlier this week stated it is officially supporting Nicholas Maduro as the current President of Venezuela - which is in direct conflict with U.S President Donald Trump’s support for Juan Guaido as Interim President. Also in support of Guaido is T&T’s Leader of the Opposition (UNC), Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The U.S Ambassador to T&T, Joseph Mondello, has now taken issue with the PNM Government of T&T - publicly stating that he finds its support for Maduro “deeply concerning.” See the U.S Ambassador’s Press Release below, as well as a graphic depicting where the rest of the World stands on this issue.
