Several months after the release of Stranger Things 3, millions of fans finally got their wish on Monday 30th September 2019 - an official renewal announcement video from Netflix with the tagline “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.” What do they mean by “We’re not in Hawkins anymore?” Is Hopper alive after that emotional Season 3 finale? Is he in Russia? We have questions and we’re quickly running out of Eggo. Again.
However, none of our questions have been answered. The fourth installment of Stranger Things has no release date as yet and nothing can really be deciphered about any of the characters from the 45-second cryptic video released by Netflix.
In addition to Stranger Things 4, the creative duo behind the mega-successful franchise, Matt and Ross Duffer, have also signed a multi-year movie and series deal with Netflix. According to Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos: The Duffer brothers have captivated viewers around the world with Stranger Things and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love.
The Duffer brothers released the following statement:
We are absolutely thrilled to continue our relationship with Netflix. From our first pitch meeting to the release of Stranger Things 3, the entire team at Netflix has been nothing short of sensational, providing us with the kind of support, guidance, and creative freedom we always dreamed about. We can’t wait to tell many more stories together — beginning, of course, with a return trip to Hawkins!

UPDATE: WASA has now provided Temporary Water Supply Schedules for the affected areas.
WASA Acting CEO, Alan Poon King and Desalcott General Manager, John Thompson, announced the planned shutdown of the Pt. Lisas Desalination Plant from 30th September to 16th October 2019. The announcement was made at a Press Conference held at Desalcott in Pt. Lisas earlier today. Desalcott provides 40 Million Gallons of water to WASA on a daily basis. The Plant will be shutdown for maintenance.
It is estimated that around 500,000 customers in South and Central Trinidad will be without a pipe-borne water supply during the planned shutdown.
See the list of affected areas below and continue reading for more details.
General Manager of Desalcott, John Thompson:
From the 30th of September we will be ramping down and we have extensive maintenance to do to ensure the reliability of the plant for next year's Dry Season. As usual, we will be doing extensive electrical work throughout the Plant, infrared and ultrasonic surveys. We will also be doing a major job on storage tanks through which all the water flows before being sent to WASA.
At the Press Conference, WASA Acting CEO, Dr. Allan Poon King advised citizens to stock up on drinking water:
Store what you can receive from WASA before and during. Our schedules will be amended and will be published on the WASA website and Facebook page and Twitter.
Poon King reiterated that the Water Hose ban implemented back in January 2019, remains in effect: “That will be monitored and we encourage that if people see illegal use of water to report that as well.”
In order to mitigate the effects of the supply shortfall on its operations, Poon King said WASA will be increasing production and redistribution of water supplies from the Caroni and Navet Water Treatment Plants. In addition to temporary water supply schedules, there will also be an increase in water trucking capacity and an increase in supplies to schools, health institutions and homes. In the meantime, Poon King said citizens must eliminate wasteful practices by repairing leaks and overflowing Water Tanks at homes and at businesses. He also urged people to pay their water bills as WASA will continue an aggressive disconnection drive. [Source: CNC3]

Following the passage of Tropical Storm Karen on Sunday 22nd September 2019, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has now reduced its Adverse Weather Alert from Orange Level to Yellow Level, which expires at 8pm tonight (Monday 23rd September 2019).
According to the Met Office, there is a medium (60%) chance of heavy showers/Thunderstorms today, which can result in Street/Flash Flooding. Land surfaces are still relatively saturated which increases the likelihood of flooding as well as Landslides/Landslips in areas so prone. Gusts in excess of 55 Km/h are also possible near heavy showers and Thunderstorms. River levels are also relatively high and are being monitored. See the latest Adverse Weather Alert from the Met Office below and stay tuned for updates.

Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, has announced that all Schools across Trinidad & Tobago will be closed on Monday 23rd September 2019 as a result of continuing inclement weather following the passage of Tropical Storm Karen. Even though the Tropical Storm Warning for T&T was discontinued, there remains an Adverse Weather Alert (Orange Level) as well as a Riverine Flood Warning (Red Level).
Minister Young made the announcement around 4:30pm on Sunday 22nd September 2019 at a Press Conference in Port-of-Spain to discuss Tropical Storm Karen and its after effects. Prior to the official announcement, there were false reports being circulated online about the closure of Schools - but these reports were from a few years ago. See Minister Young’s announcement below and stay tuned for updates.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has advised that the Tropical Storm Warning has been discontinued for T&T. The Adverse Weather Alert is now at Orange Level, having being downgraded from Red Level. This Orange Level remains in effect until 8pm tomorrow (Monday 23rd September 2019). Intermittent showers will continue and there remains a risk of Landslips and Flooding in various areas across T&T.
In addition to an Adverse Weather Alert (Orange Level), the Met Office has also issued a Riverine Flood Warning (Red Level) effective from 3pm on Sunday 22nd September until 4pm on Monday 23rd September 2019. Riverine Flooding is a significant threat for areas near major river courses and tributaries. River levels are currently near threshold values and further rainfall is expected. Properties in areas prone to Riverine Flooding may become inundated and access restricted.
As Tropical Storm Karen moves away from both islands, the threat of Tropical Storm conditions no longer exists. However, the ongoing weather is expected to continue today into tomorrow and can have severe impacts in several communities. Periods of heavy to intense rain/showers and/or Thunderstorms will continue today.
Heavy/intense downpours can result in Street/Flash Flooding. Gusty winds in excess of 60 Km/hr can be expected and the risk of Landslides/Landslips is very high in areas so prone. Sea conditions are also likely to become occasionally rough and choppy.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has now issued a Tropical Storm Warning (Red Level) for T&T, which is the highest possible Risk Level that states you should “Shelter in place if needed until the danger passes.” The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has also issued an Advisory stating that T&T is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning as of 5am this morning (Sunday 22nd September 2019).
The Tropical Storm Warning (Red Level) from the Met Office started at 6am on Sunday 22nd September and will be in effect until 8pm on Monday 23rd September 2019. This is a developing story - stay tuned for updates. |
