Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, has announced that all Schools across Trinidad & Tobago will be closed on Monday 23rd September 2019 as a result of continuing inclement weather following the passage of Tropical Storm Karen. Even though the Tropical Storm Warning for T&T was discontinued, there remains an Adverse Weather Alert (Orange Level) as well as a Riverine Flood Warning (Red Level).
Minister Young made the announcement around 4:30pm on Sunday 22nd September 2019 at a Press Conference in Port-of-Spain to discuss Tropical Storm Karen and its after effects. Prior to the official announcement, there were false reports being circulated online about the closure of Schools - but these reports were from a few years ago. See Minister Young’s announcement below and stay tuned for updates.
