Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, suffered no injuries after his official vehicle crashed into a civilian vehicle on Saturday 30th March 2019. However, the family of the injured civilian said they were very disappointed with how the victim was treated by Police.
The accident occurred around 1:30pm in the vicinity of the T&T Yacht Club in Glencoe. Griffith’s Security Detail was in pursuit of a B13 Sentra which was driving in and out of traffic, using the Shoulder and driving above the Speed Limit.
The injured civilian, Shakeel Forbes (27) from Carenage, was not immediately rushed to Hospital - according to his family. They also allege that when Forbes eventually arrived at the St. James Health Facility, he waited more than five (5) hours before seeing a Doctor.
See the Media Release from TTPS below for full details of the incident.

Chairman of the Water and Sewage Authority (WASA), Romney Thomas, is warning that WASA will be cracking down on customers with illegal connections, unregistered swimming pools or VAT registered businesses classified as “Homeowners.” Amnesty for these customers ended on 28th February 2019.
Thomas made the comments recently at the Commissioning Ceremony of the $74 Million South Oropouche to La Brea Pipeline Project at the Union Industrial Estate in La Brea. He also reminded the population that the water use restrictions imposed in late January 2019 that bans the use of Water Hoses, Sprinklers, Pressure Washers and similar apparatus, remains in effect.
Thomas noted the measures are being taken with the intent of improving the viability of the Authority’s operations, to encourage customers to pay their bills on time.
See more of the remarks made by WASA’s Chairman below and let us know your thoughts in the comments. This is why the Authority has been taking different steps to encourage delinquent customers to pursue the path of payment.

In a blog post published on Thursday 21st March 2019, Facebook admitted that millions of its users’ passwords were stored internally as plain text - making them easily accessible to more than 20,000 employees. Ironically, the blog post was titled “Keeping Passwords Secure.”
Krebs Security first reported the data breach and an anonymous Facebook source told them that passwords for anywhere between 200 Million and 600 Million Facebook users were left unsecured - from as far back as 2012. Facebook claims its internal investigation has not found evidence that employees abused access to this data.
Facebook said it will notify affected users, which include people who used Facebook Lite, Facebook, and Instagram.
In the course of our review, we have been looking at the ways we store certain other categories of information — like access tokens — and have fixed problems as we’ve discovered them. There is nothing more important to us than protecting people’s information, and we will continue making improvements as part of our ongoing security efforts at Facebook. |
