[Source: Loop] A Sangre Grande man, who initially evaded Police capture last Friday (15th March, 2024), was nabbed by Police Officers hours later, mere metres away from the Sangre Grande Police Station.
The suspect, 25-year-old Christopher Trim, unemployed, of North-Eastern Settlement, Pine Haven Cir, Sangre Grande, who was wanted in connection with the seizure of fourteen (14) rounds of 5.56 ammunition, which were allegedly found on Friday by Officers of the Eastern Division Gang and Intelligence Unit (EDGIU), was arrested by Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF) Officers on the same day. Trim has since been charged with possession of ammunition by PC Dabreo of the EDGIU and was expected to appear before a Master of the High Court in Sangre Grande on Tuesday (19th March, 2024). According to Police reports, at 12:30 PM on Friday (15th March, 2024), EDGIU Officers were conducting a surveillance exercise along the Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, relative to information of a man selling ammunition in the Brooklyn Settlement area. During the operation, EDGIU Officers spotted a man matching the suspect, walking along the said roadway. Police proceeded to approach the man who reportedly looked in the Officers’ direction and ran off while allegedly throwing an object in some nearby bushes. A foot-chase ensued, however, the man escaped into a heavily forested area along Mc Gillary Road. EDGIU Officers subsequently searched the area where the suspect was seen throwing the object, which resulted in Police retrieving a black plastic bag containing fourteen (14) rounds of 5.56 ammunition. An All-Points Bulletin (APB) was also sent out for the suspect, who was apprehended by Officers of the EDTF in a taxi within close proximity to the Sangre Grande Police Station, around 3:00 PM on the said afternoon.
According to unconfirmed reports, Police sources are alleging that the skeleton found buried in a shallow grave at Butu Road, South Valsayn, on 12th March, 2024, may have belonged to a male, and not 18-year-old Hannah Mathura, as previously thought. This, if factual, would mean that Hannah is still unaccounted for.
Giving some credence to this new theory is the fact that Police returned to the “House of Horrors” in Valsayn from 8:45 AM this morning (Wednesday 20th March, 2024). Officers at the scene began questioning relatives on the compound and shortly after, members of the canine unit arrived with a cadaver dog. Ten (10) minutes later, an excavator from the Regional Corporation arrived and went to the back of the compound to begin digging.
Reporters who were at the front of the house were asked to move and Police used a vehicle to block the entrance to the short cul-de-sac leading to the home.
Hannah’s parents were held for questioning by Police last week, but were ordered released on Tuesday (19th March, 2024).
Investigations are continuing.

His white Toyota Hilix pickup was allegedly found abandoned near Saith Park in Chaguanas, while his cellphone was found on the ground near the Chaguanas Health Centre. Police are therefore treating his disappearance as a possible abduction. Have you seen him? Anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts can call or message 799-1453. Please share quickly. Let us get Shivam home today. According to reports, Police have been ordered to release the parents of murdered 18-year-old Hannah Mathura — her 66-year-old father and 62-year-old mother — due to insufficient evidence to lay charges against them. Hannah’s body was found buried at her home located at Butu Road, South Valsayn, on 12th March, 2024.
The instruction was handed down to Officers by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard, SC, this afternoon (Tuesday 19th March, 2024). Hannah’s both parents were arrested on Wednesday night (13th March, 2024), a day after her body was found in a shallow grave at the family’s home. It is believed she was buried there seven (7) years ago. Investigators said at the time that Hannah’s both parents could be facing multiple charges as the investigation continues. Among them is murder, as well as the unlawful disposal of a body. Hannah was sad to be one of eight (8) children living at the residence at Butu Road. An autopsy has since revealed she was shot in the head. More on this as it becomes available. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates. [Source: CNC3]
