A Chaguanas man appeared before a Master of the High Court on Monday (15th April, 2024), charged with the murder of 18-year-old Jaheem Lewis, which occurred on 31st March, 2024.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), 29-year-old Karinme Gardner, aka ‘Coco,’ of Enterprise, Chaguanas, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master De Silva in the High Court on Monday (15th April, 2024). The Sufficiency Hearing is set for 30th October, 2024. Lewis, also of Enterprise, Chaguanas, was shot along the roadway at Bhagaloo Street, on 31st March, 2024. He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he later died. A male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter by Officers of the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department (CID), on 9th April, 2024. Investigations were supervised by Supt. Dhilpaul, ASP Persad, Insp. Maharaj and Sgt. Bridgemohan, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region III. Gardner was charged by WPC Rampersad, also of HBI Region III, on Friday 12th April, 2024, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal, on that same date.
