A video which was allegedly recorded on Friday 2nd August 2019 around 6:17am shows a woman walking down the street when she suddenly collapses on the roadside. What happens next is shocking.
As the woman is lying on the roadside (somewhere in San Juan) and appears to be having a seizure, a car turns onto the road and the driver seems to aim his vehicle towards the woman on the ground. After driving over the woman’s body several times, he casually and slowly drives off. Other vehicles are also shown driving past the body in the video, without anyone stopping to render assistance to the woman or check her status.
Further videos show the man finally stopped lower down the road and other people eventually went to check on the woman. She was allegedly taken to a Hospital and is said to be in stable condition - however, this information has not been verified and the whereabouts of both the woman and the driver are currently unknown.
Since the Facebook video has gone viral, with hundreds of comments from outraged citizens, Police are now investigating the matter and are searching for both the woman and the driver. This is a developing story - stay tuned for updates.

The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), ahead of Tropical Wave 32 (Invest 96L) is already affecting Trinidad & Tobago, bringing showers and Thunderstorms in what may likely be a multi-day rain event. The Met Office and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) are both closely monitoring Tropical Wave 32 for any further development.
Periods of showers and Thunderstorms are forecast over the next five (5) days, interrupting partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies across T&T as both the ITCZ and Tropical Wave 32 affects the islands. Tropical Wave 32 is expected to move across the islands on Sunday 4th August 2019, into Monday and even through early Tuesday. The system has a medium chance (40%) of becoming a Tropical Depression prior to affecting the islands. Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall and Thunderstorms are expected with gusty winds. Street/Flash Flooding is possible, particularly during slow-moving heavy showers or Thunderstorms. In addition to gusty winds, thunder, lightning, and Landslides are also possible. No Adverse Weather Alerts, Watches or Warnings are in effect for T&T at this time. Stay tuned for updates.
Republic Bank Limited (RBL) is having technical issues on a busy day following a public holiday, which also happens to be the first business day of a new month.
The issues first started on Friday morning (2nd August 2019) and lasted for an hour. During this time, customers’ transactions were unusually slow and long lines started forming at the Bank’s branches. After the issues were rectified, they soon re-occurred in the afternoon. Republic Bank’s Mobile, Internet Banking and Automated Banking Machine (ABM) services are all affected. The Bank has apologized to its customers and is working on a permanent fix for the technical issues and is hoping to have it in place by the time their branches re-open to the public at 3pm today. See statements below by RBL’s Managing Director, Nigel Baptiste and stay tuned for updates. There was an error that resulted in the system first gradually slowing down and then eventually being non-responsive.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) are both currently monitoring an area of disturbed weather progressing towards the Lesser Antilles.
This weather system has a high chance (70%) of Cyclone development over the next five (5) days. Regardless of development, T&T can see an increase in showers early next week, on Monday 5th August and Tuesday 6th August 2019. This broad low pressure system is located over the tropical Atlantic Ocean and continues to produce a large area of disorganized showers and Thunderstorms. Only gradual development of this system is expected during the next day or so while it moves West-Northwestward at roughly 16 to 24 Kmph. Environmental conditions could become more supportive by Saturday 3rd August 2019 and a Tropical Depression is likely to form several hundred kilometers East of the Lesser Antilles during the weekend. See the Two-Day and Five-Day Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook from the NHC below and stay tuned for updates. |
