The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), ahead of Tropical Wave 32 (Invest 96L) is already affecting Trinidad & Tobago, bringing showers and Thunderstorms in what may likely be a multi-day rain event. The Met Office and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) are both closely monitoring Tropical Wave 32 for any further development.
Periods of showers and Thunderstorms are forecast over the next five (5) days, interrupting partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies across T&T as both the ITCZ and Tropical Wave 32 affects the islands. Tropical Wave 32 is expected to move across the islands on Sunday 4th August 2019, into Monday and even through early Tuesday. The system has a medium chance (40%) of becoming a Tropical Depression prior to affecting the islands. Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall and Thunderstorms are expected with gusty winds. Street/Flash Flooding is possible, particularly during slow-moving heavy showers or Thunderstorms. In addition to gusty winds, thunder, lightning, and Landslides are also possible. No Adverse Weather Alerts, Watches or Warnings are in effect for T&T at this time. Stay tuned for updates.
