Republic Bank Limited (RBL) is having technical issues on a busy day following a public holiday, which also happens to be the first business day of a new month.
The issues first started on Friday morning (2nd August 2019) and lasted for an hour. During this time, customers’ transactions were unusually slow and long lines started forming at the Bank’s branches. After the issues were rectified, they soon re-occurred in the afternoon. Republic Bank’s Mobile, Internet Banking and Automated Banking Machine (ABM) services are all affected. The Bank has apologized to its customers and is working on a permanent fix for the technical issues and is hoping to have it in place by the time their branches re-open to the public at 3pm today. See statements below by RBL’s Managing Director, Nigel Baptiste and stay tuned for updates. There was an error that resulted in the system first gradually slowing down and then eventually being non-responsive.
