In a Media Release today (Friday 26th August 2022), the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries said members of the public are advised that effective 17th August 2022, pets (dogs and cats) can be imported to Trinidad and Tobago via cabin, checked baggage or cargo when travelling on an aircraft. The Ministry has now removed the import condition on the import permit, which previously mandated that dogs and cats must only be imported into the country through the aircraft cargo. Persons are reminded that you will still be required to apply for an import permit via the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO). As such, all requests should be submitted at least a minimum of one and a half months in advance of any planned travel, in order to facilitate all required conditions. Clients with permits issued prior to 17th August 2022, and who have not yet travelled but wish to utilize in cabin or checked baggage transport, are also asked to contact the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer.
