Yet another life was lost in the waters of Tyrico Bay, which is located off the North Coast Road, just after Maracas Bay. The latest drowning at Tyrico Bay occurred yesterday afternoon (Sunday 29th January 2023). It is the third since December and second for this month.
The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Vishnu Ramroop. According to reports, Ramroop was seen getting into difficulty while bathing shortly after 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoon, following which he disappeared below the waves. His friends and other beach-goers tried to rescue him but were unsuccessful. Police said his body was spotted floating in the water around 4:30 PM. It was retrieved and taken to the Port-of-Spain Mortuary. A post-mortem is expected to be performed later this week at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park.
