Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, has signed the updated Public Health Regulations (No. 20), which goes into effect from today, Thursday 25th June 2020 until Tuesday 30th June 2020.
One of the changes in the updated Regulations now specifies an opening time of 8am for bars and casinos, where the previous Regulations only specified a 10pm closing time. Some of these establishments were therefore using that as a loophole to close at 10pm but then re-open at Midnight. The new Regulations puts an end to that as they can now only re-open from 8am. A person who contravenes any section of the Public Health Regulations commits an offense and is liable on summary conviction to a Fine of TT $50,000 and imprisonment for a term of six (6) months.
