UPDATE: The Trinidad & Tobago Prison Service released the following statement after today’s events: Trinidad & Tobago Prison Service According to Commissioner of Prisons, Dennis Pulchan, approximately thirty-two (32) prisoners in four (4) cells are currently protesting at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca. Pulchan told TTT News that the prisoners have lit their mattresses on fire after they were moved from other prisons to the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca. He said the situation is under control and they are currently in the dialogue stage with the inmates. He also confirmed that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has been informed of the situation, but assured that the Prison Officers have the situation under control.
