Four (4) persons, two (2) of them Venezuelans, were arrested and two (2) Venezuelan women rescued from a house in Cunupia on Friday night (23rd April 2021).
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 4pm on Friday, the Multi Option Police Section (MOPS) received a request for assistance from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) relative to a report of the trafficking in persons. During the hours of 6:30pm and 11:30pm on Friday, members of the Special Investigations Task Force of the SIU and Officers of MOPS, executed a search warrant under the Trafficking of Persons Act, at an apartment located at the Southern Main Road, Cunupia, where two (2) women, ages 24 and 28, both Venezuelans, were found and rescued. Both women reported to the Police that they were kidnapped, robbed, assaulted, and falsely imprisoned for the past three (3) days. Four (4) suspects were also arrested and are presently in Police custody. The suspects, two (2) of whom are from Trinidad, are aged 39, 31, 21, and 19.
