Police Officers removed two (2) more illegal firearms, a quantity of ammunition and marijuana from communities in two (2) separate exercises conducted in the Western Division.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), an anti-crime exercise was conducted on Sunday (26th March 2023) by the Western Division Task Force (WDTF). Around 11:40 AM, PC Wilson-Dowers executed a search warrant for dangerous drugs at a home located at Powder Magazine, Phase 1, Cocorite. During the search, the Officers seized a red plastic block-shaped package, containing 532 grammes of marijuana. A man was arrested and taken to the St. James Police Station, where he was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. The Officers then proceeded to an unoccupied lot of land at Tomato Trace, Diego Martin, based on intelligence gathered. While searching the area, with the assistance of canine, ‘Miky,’ the team found and took possession of a black canvas bag, containing two (2) AR-15 assault rifles, loaded with twenty-nine (29) rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
