A Media Release today (Wednesday 27th September 2023) from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that the programme, which consisted of diverse conflict resolution activities utilizing drama and role plays, lectures and other engaging activities, ran from 11th to 19th September 2023. It was hosted by the Community Conflict Resolution Centre (CCRC) and The Officium Training Limited, which engaged 2,526 students. According to the Co-ordinator of the CCRC and Leader of the St. Joseph Police Youth Club (SJPYC), WPC Sascha Williams-Goddard, the programme “certainly achieved” its mandate to “foster collaborations with local educational authorities, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to broaden the reach and effectiveness of future conflict resolution initiatives.” WPC Williams-Goddard praised the CRC’s partners and volunteers, describing their efforts as “extremely noteworthy.” She said, “We cannot express how much the support of Ms. Jeneice DeCoteau and her team at The Officium Training Limited has impacted our clients. We really thank her and everyone else for consistently supporting the work of the CCRC. Also worthy of commendation are three (3) young adult members of the SJPYC, Darius Taylor, Monifa Demay and Moesha Demay, who were previously trained in Performing Arts at the SJPYC’s Camp and who provided their skills and expertise to the successful execution of this caravan.” She added, “The response from students was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting their eagerness to acquire and apply conflict resolution skills.” “The CCRC swiftly plans for subsequent cycles to build on this momentum and further strengthen community relationships. We are surely recommending that the CCRC hosts subsequent cycles in the near future, aiming to reach more schools and students,” WPC Williams-Goddard continued. We are a small operation.
