With the assistance of crews from all of its operating areas, T&TEC's Northern Distribution Area is progressing with restoration efforts in North-West Trinidad after lightning strikes and falling trees damaged overhead lines and poles yesterday (Tuesday 27th June 2023). This inclement weather was associated with the passage of an active Tropical Wave. Trinidad and Tobago remained under an Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) until 12:00 PM today (Wednesday 28th June 2023).
In a Media Release today, T&TEC said that while initial reports showed approximately six (6) large area outages and several smaller community outages at mid-day yesterday, the number increased to seventy-eight (78) area outages as at 10:00 AM today. Seventeen (17) new area outage reports were received between 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM, bringing the total to ninety-five (95). Twelve (12) emergency and three (3) tree-trimming crews were deployed yesterday, and two (2) more emergency crews were added this morning. Following are the details of restoration activities as at 2:30 PM today:
The following areas were impacted, and significant restoration has been completed. However, T&TEC notes that additional reports have emerged within the affected areas and some pockets of customers in the areas listed below are still without supply:
