At 9:40am this morning (Saturday 29th January 2022), a widely-felt magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred approximately 19.2 Kilometers Northeast of Toco, Trinidad and 24.6 Kilometers South of Crown Point, Tobago. The depth of earthquake was 61.23 Kilometers. The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC) initially said the quake was a magnitude 5.2, but after reviewing the data, adjusted it to 5.0. This morning’s quake, lasting no longer than a few seconds, was widely reported felt across Northern and Central Trinidad, and across Tobago, with sporadic felt reports across Southern Trinidad, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Venezuela.
