UPDATE: Chaos has erupted at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca as inmates staged a protest which involved lighting their mattresses on fire and locking themselves in their cells. It has been confirmed by Commissioner of Prisons, Dennis Pulchan, that a couple of inmates have locked themselves in their cells this morning (Wednesday 28th July 2021) at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca. Mr. Pulchan told TTT News that Prison Officers along with psychologists are currently speaking with the prisoners in an attempt to get them to unlock the doors.
