Five (5) Police Officers and two (2) civilians have to date been charged, in connection with the ongoing Firearm Users License (FUL) investigation. The latest charge brings to twenty-six (26), the total number of charges brought against persons by investigators in relation to breaches of the Firearms Act.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), No. 16862 Cpl (Ag.) Kareem Jamaldin, was given bail in the sum of $200,000 by Justice of the Peace (JP) Stephen Young on Thursday (22nd September 2022), after being charged with soliciting $25,000 from a man to expedite a FUL. The accused is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on 28th October 2022. He was arrested and charged in connection with the incident on Thursday (22nd September 2022), by Officers of the Financial Investigations Branch (FIB), led by W/Insp. Joseph. The seven (7) persons have been charged with offences ranging from possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking to misbehaviour in public office, all arising out of breaches of the Firearms Act.
