Due to the ongoing Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, RBC Royal Bank has announced plans to temporarily close select branches in four (4) Caribbean countries, including Trinidad, from Wednesday 25th March 2020.
The three (3) other countries which will see temporary closures are Bahamas (Main and Mackey Street branches), Grenada (True Blue branch) and Barbados (Hastings/Lantern branch), which will close on Thursday. RBC is urging its customers to limit in-branch interactions by performing day-to-day banking transactions through RBC’s online platform, mobile app, or ATM network. The following branches in Trinidad will be closed effective from Wednesday 25th March 2020, until further notice:
RBC employees who work at the branches listed above for temporary closure will be re-deployed to nearby branches, supporting clients over the phone from other locations, fulfilling back-office functions, or working on other projects.
RBC has also said that effective Saturday 28th March 2020, they will be temporarily suspending Saturday banking hours in all branches in all jurisdictions which offer that service. Additionally, they will be adjusting the hours and days of business in most other branches across the Caribbean in an effort to promote social distancing. Updated service hours are being posted directly in branches and will be reflected online through the ‘Caribbean Branch Locator’ tool.
According to Rob Johnston, Head of Caribbean Banking at RBC, they are promoting social distancing measures, as well as vigorously cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitising locations daily and encouraging employees who are able to work from home to do so for the time being.
