The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising citizens in Central and South West Trinidad that they will experience a lack of water supply due to a cutback in production at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant. This Plant is currently operating at only 25% of its capacity.
The Point Lisas Desalination Plant is used to supply the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, as well as augment the supply to areas in Central and South West Trinidad. WASA says that this disruption in water supply will therefore significantly impact its water distribution capacity to supply its customers. See a list of affected areas below. Caroni
Customers are asked to manage their water use efficiently, as it may take 24 to 36 hours for the supply to normalize to some affected areas, after the Plant returns to full operation.
WASA says a limited truck-borne water service will be available with priority given to special homes, as well as Health Care and Government Institutions. [Source: CNC3] We are a small operation.
