The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) said it is “actively responding” to an incident that occurred on Saturday night (30th March, 2024), around 7:30 PM, in the Diego Martin River.
In a Media Release today (Sunday 31st March, 2024), the Ministry said this matter “involved a collision between a vessel and a barge. Persons involved in the incident were rescued and promptly received medical attention. There have been no reported casualties.” The Ministry added that it “acknowledges the gravity of the situation and has initiated a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the details.” The Media Release concluded by saying, “Safety and security along waterways remain a paramount concern for the Ministry of Works and Transport, as such, every effort is being made to swiftly resolve this matter.
