The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government (RDLG) is advising that the Caroni River has breached its banks and will affect surrounding communities. The upper Caroni River at El Carmen is at 100% capacity as at 8:00 AM this morning (Friday 28th October 2022). More rainfall is forecast across Trinidad and Tobago. All Government Agencies remain on alert.
the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued a Riverine Flood Alert (Orange Level) until 8:00 PM on Saturday (29th October 2022). Citizens are advised to monitor weather conditions and river levels before venturing out. Avoid areas with flood waters. Monitor updates from official sources and plan safety measures, including emergency supplies of food and water. Follow the instructions of Government Officials. The public is urged to take caution and affected communities are urged to call the relevant Disaster Management Units (DMUs). High Tides will result in slower water run-off.
