A man is dead following a self-inflicted shooting incident this afternoon (Friday 12th April, 2024), while in the company of a Policewoman at Manzanilla beach. The man is said to be a close male relative of the Policewoman.
According to reports, the man and woman, both of Fishing Pond, Sangre Grande, went to Manzanilla beach, where he allegedly took her licensed firearm and shot himself in front of her, around 3:00 PM. He died on the spot. The woman, who is a member of the Emergency Response Patrol, was unhurt. Speaking with Newsday, Head of the Eastern Division, Snr. Supt. Ryan Khan, said details were still sketchy but added the woman, a Police Constable, was deeply traumatized by the incident. Police are currently at the scene. Investigations are continuing.
