A man is dead after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in the vicinity of Courts MegaStore early this morning (Thursday 4th January, 2024).
According to reports, the man was attempting to cross the Eastbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway around 5:50 AM, when he was struck by a Hyundai Tucson. The driver pulled over to the shoulder, but before he could render any assistance, the victim was struck by a Toyota Aqua. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries as a result and died on the scene. The accident caused a major traffic pileup on both lanes of the Highway.
Pedestrians are urged to utilize walkovers and not attempt to cross major Highways, “as it is very dangerous due to the speed of the vehicles and visibility of motorists,” according to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
Investigations are continuing. More on this as it becomes available. [Source: CNC3] We are a small operation.
