A patient at St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital brutally attacked a male nurse early on Saturday morning (24th September 2022), leaving his ankle partially separated from his leg. Authorities said the male nurse is currently listed in serious condition following the attack.
According to reports, the male nurse was at the Hospital in the vicinity of Ward 8, when he was confronted and attacked by the patient around 2:30 AM on Saturday. The victim fell on the ground and the patient allegedly stamped on his ankle repeatedly. By the time other persons in the area came to the victim's aid, there was a partial separation of his ankle from the leg. The victim was then taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated. His condition is said to be stable, but serious. Doctors are said to be hopeful that the victim's foot will be saved. A report of the attack has been made to the Belmont Police Station's CID Division and Officers are investigating the incident.
