Many customers have complained recently that their fuel is finishing faster and has a different scent than before. National Petroleum (NP) has now taken notice and says it is investigating these reports.
NP released the following statement on Friday 5th April 2019: NP takes the quality of fuel we sell extremely seriously and following ongoing concerns from the public regarding the fuel burning faster, NP is giving the matter due consideration and is in the process of conducting additional pertinent investigations and will solicit the support of relevant parties and independent experts as required.
Meanwhile, the State company that is importing the fuel - Paria Fuel Trading Company Ltd - is standing by the quality of its imported fuel and claims it is even better than what was produced by Petrotrin.
Paria released the following statement on Saturday 6th April 2019: We are bringing in much better quality product than was produced at the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery in recent times.
