A family in Sangre Grande were terrorized, beaten and robbed early Wednesday morning (26th July 2023) in yet another home invasion in the country. The incident took place along Sugars Lane at approximately 12:04 AM.
According to reports, one of the victims, a 66-year-old man, was awakened by a loud noise within his residence. Upon investigating, he encountered three (3) armed, masked men who had broken into his home. The gunmen announced a hold-up and proceeded to physically assault the 66-year-old man. Additionally, they tied up other family members who were present in the house at the time. The bandits searched the residence and found four (4) Samsung cellphones, two (2) laptops, two (2) tablets, a gas tank, and an angle grinder. They also took the keys to the victim's blue Suzuki Ignis motor vehicle, with which they made their escape with the family’s belongings. The victims, who were left tied up and traumatized, managed to break free of their restraints and contacted the Police to report the incident. A team of Officers, led by PC Ramkhalawan and PC Cabralis, quickly responded to the scene. Investigations are continuing. More on this as it becomes available.
