The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government is advising citizens of the River Level Advisory as at 3:30 PM this afternoon (Tuesday 27th June 2023) following heavy rainfall in various parts of the country. This was due to the passage of an active Tropical Wave interacting with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
Below are the various river capacities as at 3:30 PM:
The Maraval River has reportedly breached its banks this afternoon and will affect some communities. The public is urged to take caution. Low Tide is expected at 5:18 PM today and High Tide will be at 11:38 PM, resulting in slower water run-off. Affected communities can contact their relevant Disaster Management Unit (DMU) Hotline. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has extended its Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) until 12:00 PM tomorrow (Wednesday 28th June 2023). There continues to be a high (70% - 80%) chance of heavy showers/thunderstorms affecting Trinidad, Tobago and surrounding marine areas. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates.
