The Ministry of Health held a virtual Press Conference at 11am this morning (Wednesday 28th July 2021) to update the public on the latest developments with COVID-19 in Trinidad and Tobago. Below are the key points discussed today, courtesy of TTT Live Online: - Principal Officer of Institutions, Dr. Maryam Abdool-Richards, stated that there has been a consistent decline in occupancy levels in the parallel healthcare system with a 39% total occupancy, 37% Ward occupancy, 32% HDU occupancy and 78% ICU occupancy. - Dr. Richards noted that there has been an increase in COVID-19 positivity, (number of samples that return positive out of every 100 tests done) which now stands at 33% - up from 25%. - Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, indicated that T&T is currently at 98.8% of Government’s first goal to vaccinate 188,900 persons with two (2) doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. The Minister also stated that 365,597 persons have received at least one (1) dose of a vaccine to date. - The Health Minister, when answering a question with regards to the sale of fake vaccination cards, stated that several files with regards to these counterfeits are on the way to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
