Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, said the initial 33,600 COVID-19 vaccine doses from the COVAX facility are estimated to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago this Tuesday (30th March 2021) at 6:10pm, if all goes well. These AstraZeneca vaccines are being manufactured in South Korea.
Minister Deyalsingh made the announcement at a Press Conference this afternoon which was hosted by Prime Minister Keith Rowley. The Health Minister noted that distribution of the vaccines are to be done at twenty-one (21) sites across T&T. 3,000 vaccines will be sent across to Tobago on Thursday (1st April 2021). The Minister said the plan is to start the national vaccination roll-out on the Tuesday following Easter, 6th April 2021. First in line to be vaccinated will be healthcare workers and persons over 60 years of age with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). As these vaccines require two (2) shots, after getting the first shot, persons will get a card, along with emails/calls as reminders for them to come back for their second shot.
