The Ministry of Health is calling on the Trinidad and Tobago Newsday Newspaper to immediately retract statements it attributed to the Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, in an article published today (Friday 27th November 2020). In a strongly-worded Media Release from the Ministry of Health this morning, Minister Deyalsingh denied making any of these statements. The Editorial from Newsday was captioned “Bigshot Wedding” in reference to the recent controversial wedding in Valsayn which was allegedly attended by a large group of people, in violation of the Public Health Regulations. Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, previously said that under the current law, nobody can be charged for that wedding as it was a private event, held on private property - unlike the recent ‘Zesser party’ in Central Trinidad. See the full Media Release below from the Ministry of Health: The Ministry of Health wishes to draw your attention to an Editorial captioned "Bigshot Wedding" published on page 12 of today's print and electronic editions of the Trinidad and Tobago Newsday Newspaper.
