UPDATE: Following the Prime Minister’s virtual meeting earlier today, the OPM announced that he will host a Press Conference at 2:30pm from Tobago. The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) announced a short while ago that Prime Minister Keith Rowley is currently chairing a COVID-19 Response Meeting with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of National Security. The Prime Minister is hosting the virtual meeting from the official residence at Blenheim in Tobago. The high-level meeting comes one day after Trinidad and Tobago recorded the highest number of new COVID-19 cases, 223, since the first case in March 2020. For the month of April so far, the country has recorded an astonishing 2,144 cases and twenty-one (21) unfortunate deaths. More restrictions are highly likely to be coming soon and it is important to note that Prime Minister Rowley did warn some time ago that another lockdown will happen if cases spiraled out of control. He also grimly noted at the time that the Government will NOT be in a financial position this time to provide assistance to citizens. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates.
