According to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), Prime Minister and Head of the National Security Council, Dr. the Hon. Keith Rowley, is meeting with the leadership of the protective services this afternoon (Tuesday 31st October 2023) at the Official Residence of the Prime Minister, at La Fantasie Road, St. Ann’s.
The meeting also includes Commissioner of Police, Erla Christopher and Acting CDS Group Captain Kemba Hannays. The OPM notes that also at the meeting is the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Fitzgerald Hinds, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Hon. Stuart Young, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Senator the Hon. Reginald Armour SC, and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis. The meeting follows a statement issued this morning by the Prime Minister, in which he expressed his views on the escalating crime situation in the country. In his statement, Prime Minister Rowley said, “The current violent crime spree will not be tolerated. The State will redouble all efforts to curtail these violent outbursts…” Read his full statement here.
