Following swift backlash from Freeport residents, President of the Funeral Practitioners’ Association, Keith Belgrove, revealed on Monday (27th December 2021) that the planned site for mass storage of COVID-19 bodies in Beaucarro, Freeport, has been scrapped. However, the Association is now looking for another suitable site to relocate the facility — and they have already identified two (2) possible sites. More information will be revealed at a later time, according to Belgrove. Belgrove explained that the Freeport location was ideal for the facility’s needs, however, the Association has heard the concerns of the community. He said, “At this Association of funeral professionals, it was never our intent to upset the residents in any way. Wherever funeral services operate, we are partners with the community within which we operate.” This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates.
