A home was destroyed by fire in Carapichaima on Monday night (29th January, 2024), leaving a family of eleven (11) persons without shelter.
According to reports, a fire started at the home, located along Robert Street, Bank Village, Carapichaima, around 10:00 PM. Residents immediately formed a bucket brigade in an attempt to extinguish the blaze. However, the fire continued to spread quickly. Police and Fire Services were contacted and Fire Officers from the Chaguanas and Couva Fire Stations responded to the scene. They managed to contain the blaze using water and foam. However, the home could not be saved and was subsequently destroyed.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of the fire.
