North-Central Division Officers have made a major breakthrough in solving several reports of motor vehicle larceny in the Tunapuna and Arouca districts, with the arrest of a 20-year-old man.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Roland Moonesar, of El Dorado, was charged with six (6) counts of motor vehicle larceny and two (2) counts of larceny, when he appeared before Master Shah on Monday (26th February, 2024). The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail with surety in the sum of $550,000 for four (4) counts of motor vehicle larceny and two (2) counts of larceny. These matters were transferred to the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court. He was also granted bail in the sum of $150,000 with surety for two (2) counts of motor vehicle larceny, which were also transferred to the Arima and Tunapuna Magistrates’ Courts. The matter was adjourned to 20th March, 2024. The TTPS said the breakthrough came on 19th February, 2024, when a victim made a report of motor vehicle larceny in the El Dorado district. An operation co-ordinated by the Command Centre resulted in Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) Officers responding and recovering the vehicle within minutes of the report being made. A male suspect was arrested a short distance away, while another managed to escape. Through the painstaking and commendable work of Cpl. Stevenson, Officers were able to charge the suspect in connection with six (6) reports originating out of the Tunapuna and Arouca districts. High commendation also came to PCs Trotman and Lindsay of the ERP, who effected the arrest of the suspect within minutes of the report being made to the Police. Other Officers involved in the investigation included Sgt. Newton, WPC Singh, PC Norville, PC Vitalis and WPC King, all of the North Central Division. We are a small operation.
