The Ministry of Education (MOE) is advising that as a safety precaution, based on the weather conditions which have persisted over the last few hours, the projected overnight rainfall, and the present levels of major rivers, all schools in Trinidad will remain closed on Friday (28th October 2022). Unless a further advisory from the Ministry is issued, schools will re-open on Monday (31st October 2022), except where clean-up operations in schools may be necessary. In such cases, the Ministry said parents will be advised directly through the school's Principal.
At 4:08 PM today (Thursday 27th October 2022), the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) upgraded its Adverse Weather Alert to Orange Level as the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to affect Trinidad and Tobago, with a Tropical Wave expected on Friday (28th October 2022). The Ministry said it continues to monitor updates and receive guidance from the TTMS and the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government (RDLG) on riverine levels and flooding in areas so prone.
