Three (3) women were robbed of nearly $1.5 million in cash and other valuables during a brazen home invasion in broad daylight in Cunupia on Wednesday (29th March 2023). According to reports, a 38-year-old woman was at her home at Madras Road with her two (2) teenage daughters, when a group of six (6) armed men forced their way into the premises around 12:00 PM.
The men announced a hold-up and tied up the three (3) victims. They then proceeded to ransack the home, grabbing several items of value, before leaving in a burgundy vehicle. The victims were eventually able to untie themselves and notify Police of the incident. Upon checking what was stolen, the family discovered a pellet gun, a quantity of jewellery, and $454,000 in cash, which was being kept at the home, were missing. The vehicle which was used in the robbery was later found abandoned in the area. It was taken for forensic examination for possible fingerprints, which would help to identify the suspects.
