UPDATE: In a subsequent post, the Ministry of Health made a correction regarding the person that died in Tobago. It is a female with pre-existing conditions, not a male. The Ministry of Health revealed in its 10am update this morning (Friday 25th September 2020) that there are two (2) more unfortunate deaths in Trinidad and Tobago, plus twenty-five (25) additional cases. The latest deaths are an elderly male with co-morbidities and a male from Tobago with pre-existing conditions. The Ministry reported a total of ninety-nine (99) cases just yesterday. The country’s death toll now stands at sixty-nine (69). T&T’s confirmed cases now rises to 4,260, with 2,069 being active cases. Seven (7) persons have been discharged from public health facilities and there have been sixty-eight (68) recovered community cases. Recovered community cases refer to persons who were previously COVID-19 positive and in self-isolation at home, and subsequently met the discharge criteria and were released from self-isolation. The Ministry also notes that there are currently ninety-six (96) COVID-19 positive patients being treated at Hospitals - fifty-eight (58) at Couva, twenty-two (22) at Caura, five (5) at Arima, one (1) at Augustus Long and ten (10) at St. Ann’s. Among the patients at Couva, six (6) are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and seven (7) are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU). There are also currently 103 COVID-19 positive patients in step-down/transition facilities. The twenty-five (25) new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.
