The Ministry of Health revealed in its daily 4pm update this afternoon (Wednesday 21st October 2020) that there are three (3) unfortunate deaths from COVID-19 in Trinidad and Tobago, plus fifty-nine (59) additional cases. This is a 68.57% increase in cases from yesterday. The latest deaths are an elderly male and an elderly female with pre-existing medical conditions, as well as a female. The Ministry reported thirty-five (35) cases and another death just yesterday. The country’s death toll now crosses the 100 mark, at 101. T&T’s confirmed cases now rises to 5,392, with 1,459 being active cases. Ten (10) persons have been discharged from public health facilities and there have been sixty-four (64) recovered community cases. Recovered community cases refer to persons who were previously COVID-19 positive and in self-isolation at home, and subsequently met the discharge criteria and were released from self-isolation. The Ministry also notes that there are currently seventy-five (75) COVID-19 positive patients being treated at Hospitals:
Among the patients at Couva, four (4) are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and ten (10) are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU). There are also currently fifty (50) COVID-19 positive patients in step-down/transition facilities. The fifty-nine (59) new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.
