Police are asking anyone who has information on a shooting and attempted robbery incident in St. Ann’s on Friday afternoon (23rd September 2022), along Hutten Road, to contact the Port-of-Spain Divisional Task Force (PoSDTF) at 623-0929.
Detectives are currently tracing a Steyr Mannlicher pistol with six (6) rounds of nine-millimeter ammunition that was dropped and later seized following the melee. According to Police reports, at 1:05 PM on Friday afternoon, Police Officers of the PoSDTF responded to a report of a shooting in progress along Hutton Road, St. Ann’s, where two (2) men were said to be armed with firearms. Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that the suspects approached a group of workers, pointed a firearm at them and announced a hold-up. A struggle subsequently ensued between one of the workers and one of the suspects, during which loud explosions were heard. The worker managed to grab hold of one of the firearms while the suspects later escaped by running South along Hutton Road. One of the workmen was injured during the fracas and is listed in critical condition at Hospital. The Steyr Mannlicher pistol, which was dropped during the altercation, was seized by the responding Officers. PC George of the PoSDTF is leading investigations into the incident.
