During yesterday’s virtual Press Conference (Monday 25th October 2021) by the Ministry of Health, Epidemiologist Dr. Avery Hinds confirmed that Trinidad and Tobago has seen three (3) consecutive weeks of increases in COVID-19 cases. County Medical Officer of Health for St. Andrew/St. David, Dr. Allana Quamina-Best, said parts of East Trinidad is a cause for concern. She said this is not surprising due to the low vaccination numbers in that area. Less than 10% of people that reside in the Manzanilla catchment area have been vaccinated to date. Meanwhile, Principal Medical Officer of Institutions, Dr. Maryam Abdool-Richards, announced at the virtual Press Conference yesterday that the demand for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds has now outstripped the supply.
