Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, announced at a Media Conference today that he has signed an Order that will require Visas for all Venezuelans to enter Trinidad & Tobago from Monday 17th June 2019. Minister Young said the new Visa policy will allow for proper screening of those who try to gain access to T&T.
From Monday morning we will be implementing Visas for Venezuelans to come to Trinidad & Tobago.
Minister Young addressed the Media at the end of today's deadline for the registration of Venezuelans in T&T. Everyone in line for registration today were processed and therefore there would be no need to resort to opening the Registration Centers this weekend. According to initial estimates, just over 15,000 Venezuelans were registered during the last two (2) weeks.
Minister Young also announced a Multi-Force Agency, similar to I.C.E in the United States (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), will be created to handle deportations using “humane methods.”

UPDATE 2: A video has been circulating online showing a man, believed to be Rajkumar Singh (70), screaming for help by a window in the upper floor: “Help meh, oh God, come is fire. Help meh.”
UPDATE: Nearby residents said they could not save the Singh family despite their best efforts and believe if Fire Officers had arrived sooner, they would of possibly survived. The fire is suspected to have started in the Kitchen.
Tragedy struck the Singh family early this morning (Wednesday 12th June 2019) along Samaroo Street West in Aranguez as fire engulfed the upper floor of their 2-storey home. Dead are Rajkumar Singh (70), his wife Leela Singh (68) and son Shiva Singh (33) who worked at RBC as an Accountant.

Fire Officers from Wrightson Road as well as San Juan rushed to the scene after receiving the call around 3am this morning. A mother and her child, who were renting downstairs, were both safely rescued as neighbours were able to alert them on time. Unfortunately, the Singh family were unable to escape from upstairs and perished in the fire. Their charred remains were later discovered by Fire Officers.
No official cause has yet been given for the fire. Investigations are continuing. See photos from the scene below.
Amnesty International has sent an Open Letter to the Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago asking for an extension to the deadline for registering Venezuelans in this country.
Amnesty International noted the Government’s 14th June 2019 deadline in its letter and expressed concern that the estimated 40,000 Venezuelans in T&T will not be registered in that time-frame. They also reminded the Government that it will be breaking international human rights law as well as breaching Conventions if asylum seekers or refugees are deported after the registration deadline has passed. Read the 2-page Open Letter below from Amnesty International and let us know if you think the registration deadline should be extended by voting in our Facebook Poll.

UPDATE: NYC Mayor, Bill de Blasio, said there was no indication that the crash was an act of terror, and he said there were no injuries to anyone in the building or on the ground. The Helicopter was an Agusta A109E and so far only the Pilot is believed to have been in the Helicopter. Investigations are ongoing.
Memories of 9/11 came rushing back to many New Yorkers as a Helicopter crashed onto the rooftop of a 51-Floor building on Monday afternoon (10th June 2019). Mayhem ensued as the building shook from the crash and people started running out of their offices.
The incident took place on the roof of a building at 787 7th Avenue in Manhattan. The Helicopter burst into flames soon after impact. Around 100 Fire and EMS units are currently on the scene. According to FDNY, the fire has so far been extinguished but they are dealing with leaking fuel from the Helicopter. CNN was told by FDNY Spokesman Myles Miller that the Helicopter Pilot is dead. Details on any more casualties or injuries are yet to be revealed. The building was being slowly evacuated due to the volume of people just trying to get out all at once. Security apparently told people to use the stairs instead of the elevators. One person said it took 30 minutes to get from the 29th floor down to ground level. See initial statements below from President Donald Trump as well as New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo.
Statement from Governor Cuomo:
Preliminary information is that there was a helicopter that made a forced landing, emergency landing, or landed on the roof of the building for one reason or another. The Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Service is advising citizens that there will be an increase in Saharan Dust on 10th and 11th June 2019 and these elevated levels will most likely continue affecting T&T until the end of June. For the first time since March 2019, air quality levels are nearing ‘unhealthy’ for sensitive groups across Trinidad & Tobago, as well as a number of islands across the Eastern Caribbean - due to a heavy concentration of Saharan Dust in the atmosphere. The Air Quality Index for T&T is currently rated as ‘Moderate.’ As air quality levels reach ‘unhealthy’ for sensitive groups, there is the increasing likelihood of respiratory symptoms, aggravation of heart or lung disease and premature mortality in persons with Cardiopulmonary disease as well as the elderly.
Below are some necessary precautions you should take in dealing with the present high levels of Saharan Dust, as outlined by the Trinidad & Tobago Weather Center.
According to Forbes, Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, is now worth a staggering US $600 Million at age 31. Her tremendous wealth eclipses that of Madonna, Céline Dion and Beyoncé.
Even with a large catalog of hits, the majority of Rihanna’s income does not come from music. It comes from her very lucrative partnership with French luxury goods company LVMH, which owns high-end brands such as Christian Dior, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton. Rihanna launched her fashion label Fenty last month at a pop-up boutique in Paris, becoming the first black woman to create an original brand with LVMH. She has recently moved to London so she can be closer to LVMH.
In addition to Fenty, Rihanna also runs her lingerie label Savage X Fenty as well as her cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty. Launched in 2017, Fenty Beauty is estimated to be worth more than US $3 Billion according to Forbes - having generated US $570 Million in its first fifteen (15) months of business.
See quotes below from Rihanna’s new interview with the New York Times Style Magazine. You know, when I was younger, I couldn't afford everything, but a pair of Timberlands: That was my Dior. And I had to save my money for a whole school year to get those Timberlands that I wanted, and I did it.

Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, is urging citizens to exercise caution in POS as he confirms an 'explosive device' went off at a building on the corner of Abercombry and Duke Street. There have been no reports of casualties or injuries at this time.
Minister Young noted that the incident did not take place at the POS Magistrates' Court as some are reporting. Abercombry Street has been cordoned off as the Bomb Squad and Police are currently on the scene. As a result, there is heavy traffic nearby as people are trying to flee the area.
This is a developing story - stay tuned for updates.
