The Ministry of Health has announced another death in T&T from COVID-19. According to the Ministry, the latest death is an elderly gentleman with pre-existing medical complications. There is also a new confirmed positive case, bringing the total now to 66. Reports at this time indicate that positive case is in Tobago, making it their second case there. The Ministry of Health will be holding a Press Conference shortly. The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) has so far rested a total of 453 samples. The Ministry of Communications has advised that a Press Conference will be held today, Friday 27th March 2020 at approximately 10:35am by the Ministry of Health. As of yesterday afternoon, the latest update from the Ministry of Health stated Trinidad and Tobago now has a total of 65 positive cases of COVID-19, with one (1) death.
Prime Minister Keith Rowley announced yesterday at a Press Conference that there will be a “non-essential” lockdown in T&T from Midnight on Sunday 29th March until 15th April 2020.

C3 Centre has announced they will be temporarily closing from 10pm on Friday 27th March 2020 until further notice, as they do their part in the fight against COVID-19 in T&T. Essential stores and services will continue to remain open. According to C3, the following stores will remain open:
Prime Minister Keith Rowley called on everyone except essential workers to stay at home unless they had to go out. The Prime Minister emphasized that this is not a “State of Emergency,” but said this ban could be enforced under existing legislation. This new “deeper separation” measure will go into effect at Midnight on Sunday 29th March 2020 and last until 15th April 2020, provided it is not extended before then.
The Ministers of Health and National Security will provide a list of what are deemed as "essential activities" by Friday 27th March 2020. Prime Minister Rowley noted that medical personnel, people in the public utilities and social services were essential, as well as banking services. The airport and seaport have to stay open because our food has to come in. There is a huge chunk of the country that still has to function as a response to the virus.
Prime Minister Rowley appealed to all citizens to be responsible, saying this is the only way to save lives.

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has announced that a Post-Cabinet Media Briefing will be held at 2pm today, Thursday 26th March 2020 at the Diplomatic Centre in Port-of-Spain.

The Ministry of Health has announced another new case of COVID-19 in Trinidad and Tobago as of Thursday morning (26th March 2020). This brings the total number of cases to 61, with one (1) confirmed death, which was first reported yesterday by Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar. An elderly male with a pre-existing medical condition is this country’s first COVID-19 death, which has been confirmed by Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, shortly after 8pm tonight (Wednesday 25th March 2020). The news was first shared by Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar earlier this evening, in which she also called for a nationwide shutdown.
According to Minister Deyalsingh, the public release of this information was delayed by the Ministry in order to give the family members sufficient time to receive and process this information. Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has announced in a Media Release on Wednesday 25th March 2020 that a patient who tested positive for COVID-19, has died at the Couva Hospital. Persad-Bissesser called for a lockdown of the country for fourteen (14) days. Persad-Bissessar told Guardian Media that she was able to confirm the death but did not give any further details. Meanwhile, National Security Minister Stuart Young said that the Ministry of Health is the official source of communication for the Government. Upon leaving the House of Representatives during a sitting tonight, Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh was asked for confirmation by reporters but he declined to comment. Chief Medical Officer, Dr Roshan Parasram, also did not return calls or reply to messages. However, a senior member of the Regional Health Authority confirmed the death to CNC3. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is confirming that one of its Officers with a recent travel history has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now being treated at the Couva Hospital. According to the TTPS, the Officer who is on vacation, was granted permission to leave the country. He left for New York on 26th February 2020 and returned to Trinidad on 18th March 2020. He was met by a female friend who took him to his home. The Officer complained of feeling unwell and was taken to see a Doctor on 19th March 2020. He returned home after he was treated, but later complained of body pains and was taken to the Health Facility in the area where he lives. From there he was transported to the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) and then later to the Couva Hospital for treatment. The Ministry of Health then confirmed he tested positive for COVID-19. His female friend checked into the Caura Hospital where she was tested and is awaiting the results.
