[Source: Trinidad Express] The Ministry of Health said it notes the “erroneous claims” made by the Sunshine newspaper, in an article that appeared this week, with claims made by an unnamed individual.
In a Media Release this afternoon (12th January 2023), the Ministry said, “Despite this, the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health, launched an investigation into the claims and it was found that all allegations outlined in the article were unsubstantiated. The Ministry of Health therefore refutes the claims outlined within the article and reminds the newspaper that accuracy should be a trademark of good journalism.” The Minister said, ”I have often stated within the public domain that when stories not based in fact are published, it demoralizes the hard working staff at our health facilities, all of whom go to work daily and give their very best. Whilst I acknowledge that our local healthcare system, like other systems globally, is not perfect, it is my belief that we can treat with real issues in a more humanized approach.” The Ministry said it will continue to “effect its mandate to establish national priorities for the health sector that enables an environment for the delivery of quality healthcare to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.” Pictured Above: Leana Ali, 18 and Malaki Ali, 2.
